I am looking for a salad dressing recipe that does not
contain any herbs. I am very allergic to them.
I would like a creamy one but at this point I would
take any;
Thank you so much

what about mayo, buttermilk and some salt and pepper to taste (those arent herbs right? )
What do you mean by herbs--like thyme, rosemary, and that type, or are you talking about most seasons.
I would also try a very little mustard with the mayo, milk mix (either dried or prepared)
pure olive oil with a squeeze of lemon, or lime
a mayo, kectup, mix with diced (or pureed) pickles and onions (kind of like a thousand island)
havent tried these, but this is what I would try if I couldn't eat the store bought dressing |

Plain yogurt is a nice creamy dressing base. You could add what you like- salt, pepper, honey, lemon juice...just to name some. You can thin it with water or a little vinegar. |

Annette,
I am hate to say this but almost anything green, Parsely is the big (deadly) one. So I just stay
away from all of them, I can have salt and pepper and garlic but that is about it, I am also allergic to most vegtables. Carrots, celery, tomatos, peas. My salads are pretty plain. But I feel blessed to not be allergic to lettuce.
Thank you for all of your help

I mix mayo (about 1/4 C) and olive oil (1/4 C) and 1/4 C apple cider vinegar. Season with salt and pepper. Add 1/2 tsp garlic powder. Pour over lettuce and toss thoroughly. I add feta cheese, black olives, pine nuts, chopped hard boiled eggs, croutons, marinated artichoke hearts, marinated mushrooms, etc. Maybe if you aren't allergic to some of those you could give them a try. My husband calls my salads "my wife's awesome salad"! |

I use rice vinegar as my salad dressing. I find it at the grocery in the Chinese/Oriental section - it's actually Japanese, I think. The original flavor is really good on salads; my husband prefers the roasted garlic flavor and the roasted red pepper. I use it to add flavor and zing to a lot of things - even on steak and salmon instead of A1 or worcestire sauce....

My favorite way to eat salad is with fruit. I just make a salad with romaine lettuce and spinach, add in any other greens you like and then throw some cut up fruits over top with some orange juice or simliliar type of strong tasting juice. In a pinch I use a can of mandarine oranges and throw it right on top. Then I add sliced or whole almonds on top of the salad! It's VERY tasty and healthy! |

Have you tried oriental fish sauce to add a different flavor? I know it smells like dead fish, but when used in a little amount with sesame oil, you might try mixing with rice wine vinegar.
Can you use ketchup since it has tomatoes and other spices?
FYI, xanathan gum is a corn derived thickener you could put in a vinegar/oil based concoction-whir in blender. Just a little is needed-just don't use it by itself-yuck, yuck. With stuff as thickener, it's great. Even used it in fruit juice popsicles to stop drippy messes until another mom told me it was corn derived.
What about onion or green onion? I have a type of french/poppy seed dressing that used poppy seeds, tomato (omit) salt, sugar, onion juice (scrape onion on grater to juice), oil, vinegar. I'd imagine you could just omit parts and it'd come out nice if you can do onions. You could even try onion juice in the buttermilk to give it a tangy twist.
They make a raspberry balsamic vinegar. Have you tried walnut oil-they pare it up with nuts, gorgonzola cheese/maybe feta, I believe.
Have you tried an internet search for salad dressings? Are you allergic to mustard seeds, onions, chives, green onions, poppy seeds, sesame, ginger? A longer list of forbidden stuff might aid those trying to search for you.
If you write your blacklisted items, I'll try to search my various cookbooks or net for you.
