Anyone have a simple way of chopping a lot of onions to freeze? Do you use a Kitchenaid? Which attachment? |

I do once a month cooking and end up chopping lots of onions for that. Once and only once did I use my kitchen aid. Instead of just getting a couple of tears the whole kitchen filled up with onion power and it was terrible. Annette |

I always use my food processor for chopping and slicing onions. I had eye surgery when I was a child and am EXTREMELY sensitive to onions, and have never had a problem when I used the food processor. I use my chopping/shredding blade for making diced onions. To freeze I put in a single layer on a cookie sheet and freeze, then place into bags - that way they don't stick together or get soggy. I usually put several cookie sheets on top of each other in my large chest freezer and freeze several pounds at once. |

I chop about 4 pounds of onions at once. Open the windows when you do it! I peel them all and cut in half or quarters and put them in my food processor with the regular blade. I then put them in snack sized zip bags and freeze them. I love doing this! Otherwise I am chopping onions and crying almost every day! |

Ladies, here's a little tip that may make your onion chopping a little less "teary" Try chewing a piece of "minty" gum while chopping! You'll be amazed!

I second Joy==that little chopper is a definite eye and time saver! I received mine as a gift, so I don't know its cost, but it is worth a great deal! |

Hello Ladies!
Just wanted to add that I recently read to have a lit candle nearby while chopping. It seems that this will burn off some of the onion fumes which leads to less tears :-) |
