Dear Ladies,
For some reason I am having a very hard time coming up with meals. I am not sure if this is because I am pregnant and kind of eat on a whim, I just have a hard time cooking and eating meat, and a lot of veggies I normally love turn me off.
What should I do to get out of this slump? HELP!!!!Songbird |

With my last pregnancy, I had a HUGE aversion to all meat except fried chicken. I don't think there's really anything you can do to "get out of" this stage of your pregnancy. Just be sure you are eating at least some form of protein, whether it be meat, cheese, eggs, or peanut butter. Drink plenty of fluids, and take a multi-vitamin. |

Songbird,
Planning menus is my absolute favorite thing! First, make a list of all the main dishes you can prepare within your usual time frame and budget. You'll probably be surprised at just how many things there will be to choose from. For variety, I do one night per week for each of the following: chicken, beef, ground meat (turkey or beef), pork, and seafood. (We have the same thing every Saturday and Sunday, so those are no-brainers.) Then add a vegetable for each one and as many more side dishes as you prefer. We usually have a green vegetable, a starch, and a non-green vegetable (corn, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc.) Breads and desserts are extra, so add them on if you want.
Once you've done this, you can repeat it each week or decide how often you are comfortable with. It makes cooking SO much easier when you already know what you're going to have. I use a 4-week rotation so we don't repeat things too often, but if you have pickier eaters with fewer acceptable choices, you may be more limited. If anyone needs help or dish ideas, I'd be happy to help. Email me anytime.
With joy from Jesus,
