Has anyone made their own beef jerky? Is it possible?

either in a hydrator or oven??? I would like to try too, also how do you store it and how long does it last, also does it cook the beef enough to get rid of any "bateria" Also can you eat beef jerly while preg. (I know they advice against eating undercooked meat?
Thanks
I LOVE Beef jerky and would love even more to make it, but haven't because I wasn't sure how "save" beef jerky (esp homemade) was

Thanks

Yes it is possible. We've made it only once. I don't have a recipe on hand but if you go to the American Harvest website they have lots of dehydrator recipes. You can make it in a dehydrator or low oven but the recipe will be there. Annette
