My Dh is an avid fisherman so we frequently have fresh fish. I just kind of fix what we have to go along with it. This week we are having a missionary family over for dinner and he wants to make a new recipe that was a hit with our family--a baked fish (steelhead).

Any suggestions of what to serve with it?
thanks

Most restaurants serve a rice pilaf side with a fish entree; this is always great with a fresh steamed veggie: brocolli, zucchini, green beans or a mixed veggie combo.

If you aren't rice fans, how about home fries or roasted potatoes. Red lobsters serves some great cheddar biscuits with their fish dinnners, veggies and fresh salads--yummy!

We made fish and grits for our geography Fair. It was simple and a big hit. It was just boiled fish on top of grits with a little parsley on top.
What about rice pilaf and garden salad? Annette

Anything citrus will be good. A spinach salad with mandarin oranges, rice pilaf, Lemonade. We've found that drinking water with a little lemon is better than just plain water when eating fish. It compliments the fish and makes it seem less fishy.

Enjoy your dinner! What a blessing to have fresh fish!

How about cole slaw, corn on the cob, and french fries. Our family loves these items with fish.

What about Coleslaw?? That always goes well with fish. Or corn? Maybe a salad or green beans?

Just thinking out loud and will admit that we don't eat fish here so I may be totally off. haha!

cheese grits!!! and collard greens or other greens. But I've always had the grits on the side, not with the fish right in the grits.
Cole slaw is good, too--here is a different way to make it if you're interested...at our house we do it with chopped cabbage, chopped apples, raisins, and a little mayonnaise. no vinegar. I've heard of adding pineapple but haven't tried it.

Sometimes I splurge and buy the refrigerated tortellini stuffed with mushrooms or cheese. I serve it in an alfredo sauce as a different compliment to Salmon. Very tasty!
