What exactly are ranch style beans?

I've seen this in several recipes and I'm not sure what they are. Is that the same as Pork and Beans? I live in North Carolina...don't know if that makes any difference. |

No, they are pinto beans cooked and in a sort of chili flavored sauce, I think they are the same as chili beans |

Ranch style beans are pinto beans that have a chili powder as a seasoning. Our Walmart now carries a generic brand of them. Maybe yours will have some. If not do a google search for "homemade ranch style beans" and you will get several recipes.

Walmart calls them 'Southern Ranch Beans' I think.
They must be a southern thing. When my uncle moved to Michigan for 3 years, my grandmother would ship him cases of them every couple of months. Wonder what his mailman thought - ha ha!

I live in Texas, home of Ranch Style Beans! 'Ranch Style' is actually the name of the company, but their main product is pinto beans seasoned with a BBQ style sauce. I'm originally from SC, so when we visit out there, I have found the Ranch Style brand, but the seasoned beans are called Texas Beans. They also make blackeye peas, regular pinto beans, black beans, all without the sauce. |

Yes, they are pinto beans cooked in w/ chili seasoning. They are very good and good in a couple of recipes I have. I quit buying them for a while b/c they took off they use to say on the label..'Husband pleasing beans'. In fact that is what my mother called them instead of Ranch Style Beans. But, they've taken that off the label. I can't remember what they replaced it with, though. I was very sad when they took that off the label:-(
Maybe we could petition for it to come back!!*Ü*
