I really need to get a food processor as I'm working my blender too hard. Does anyone have experience with good ones and/or bad ones?

Thank you for your help!

I bought a Cuisinart DLC 7 at a garage sale. It came with 10 blades and it is a fantastic workhorse. I find these at garage sales all the time because so many people don't make the time to cook. Cuisinart is a good quality food processor. You find them sold in higher-end kitchen stores.

I had a Hamilton Beach that was good, it lasted me for several years (about 9). But I'm going to be buying a new one and the one I think I'm going for is KITCHENAID!! I have their mixer and their mini-chopper (which I love!). They are both excellent quality and I've never had a single problem with them. I've heard nothing but positive things about the KitchenAid food processor! I recently saw it featured at QVC. They usually have better prices than department stores....but, be sure to compare!!! You can check them out online!

KitchenAid is a little more pricey, but they are well worth the price if you ask me! They're easy to use, top quality, AND easy to clean!!!!

Cuinisart here. My mother gave me hers and she had it for many years and I've had it for at least 8 years. I did break the bowl BUT a friend found one at a yard sale for a couple of dollars for me!!! Annette

I had a Cuisinart. Every piece just kept breaking. My husband said it was cheap plastic. :( Now the Cuisinart blender I have is wonderful and has lasted a couple years and still going strong. I'm looking for a new food processor also but want one that will actually be worth its money and last a long time.

I am going to be buying a food processor and would like a Cuisinart. I am thinking of one because of the long warranty over the Kitchen Aid. Does anyone have any opinions on these?

An online review I have read said that the Cuisinart was more likely to overprocess food than the KitchenAid. So the KitchenAid is less likely to make some stuff mushy mince while there are still chunks to be chopped. I'd say it would be a big issue if you wanted to just toss stuff in without doing any prep chopping first. For example, my food processor wants onions and carrots to be in 1 inch chunks before I put them in.

I just bought the KitchenAid 12-cup Professional food processor. I love it!! I bought it because of reading the rave reviews from Cooks Illustrated magazine. I bought it from Williams Sonoma for about $263 (including S&H and tax). It was pricy but I expect it to last a really long time and I plan to use it a lot, so it's worth it. I prefer to spend a little more and get something that will last a long time and something I'll be happy with than settle for something cheap that will break in a year or two. With a growing family, I need something big! It came with lots of blades and also has three bowls.
