con queso dip recipe?

I'm looking for a recipe to make the cheese dip found at Mexican Recipe. It is whitish in color. The dip looks as if it has been made from white American Cheese. The con queso dip at the grocery store have salsa in this. Does anyone know how to make this? |

A friend makes it with white cheddar and a small can of diced chilies....maybe some salt/pepper and garlic too. You can cook it in the mircrowave or crockpot. Thats the closest we have found to that wonderful mexican restaurant appetizer!
I have also heard of using pepper jack cheese, but I am not that adventurous with my tastebuds!!!!

well, having grown up of this we used a cheese calles queso blanco. Which is in the mexican food stores, but I believe that it is a mixture of white cheddar and montery jack. we added jalapeno's, tomatoes, onion, garlic, and cilantro to make ours. hope this helps |

Well I grew up with this recipe. We use a cheese called Queso Blanco, which can be bought in some stores mexican sections or a mexican store. Which I believe is white cheddar and monterray jack. We then add finely chopped jalapeno's. tomatoes,(onions, garlic, and cilantro, all to taste.) I hope that this helps. |

Well after answering this thread, we got to wanting some dip. So I made a basic white sauce and added shredded sharp cheddar cheese....I added a small can of the chilies found in the mexican section of the grocery store and a small jar of chopped pimentos. Oh my goodness, this was very very very good! We will be looking forward to making it again!
If you really like hot, you could add some jalapenos or use the pepper jack cheese.
